That's the way German politicians are made fun of in advertising campaigns !!!
The first picture shows Merkel at a public event. All media reported about it ... but fotographers were not sure wether to edit the picture or to publish it uneditted or even to publish no picture at all...
The second picture shows one reaction to Merkel's sweat stain ... It says: "CK ohne mich, nur echt im Zerstäuber, a fragrance by http://www.schandmaennchen.de/
Now, is it still possible to image Merkel as a real advertising figure ??
Does she have the connotations companies want to connect to their products with ??
I think you are right, Merkel would never do a "real" advertising campaign. She is not that what we call beautiful woman or something like that. She would not fit to advertising products like perfume, clothes or make-up products. But we should not forget that she is, in my opinion, the most famous and most successfull woman in Germany. For me that wouldd be reason enough to do an advertising campaign with her ;-). Maybe not implicitly for make-up or clothing stuff... ;-)
